I have entered my second career on a full time basis after thirty years of high school and post-secondary teaching. I see significant relationships between my first career and my second not only in the people-skills, but also in the business and paperwork.
My skills as a teacher are of great use to me in directing tours. I am a life-long learner, accomplished at research and study, with excellent oral and written communication skills with small or large groups. I am accustomed to working well with a variety of personalities and meeting their needs through independent and collaborative methods. I have worked successfully in leadership roles with all age groups. Problem-solving, poise under emergency conditions, and organizational skills are talents that I claim as parts of my daily regimen.
I have two master’s degrees (one in English and one in curriculum and instruction) which have prepared me both in literature and history, speaking and listening, and the development of programs; I am proficient in email, Internet use, MS Word and Excel. I also use MS PowerPoint for presentations.
I am personable, stable, creative, adaptable, reliable, eager, easy to work with, a team-player, and confident that I would be an asset to tour companies who require my skills and personality.
